Dairy cow slaughter has logged a very low quarter at the end of 2023, which has continued into early 2024.
The ratio of heifers to milk cows has hit some low points relative to history and in some cases is decades low, considering the size of the milk cow herd.
Herd turnover rates have slipped below average indicating the potential for a greater number of dairy farm-originating offspring to enter the beef supply chain.
