Wholesale beef prices seem to have found their footing with middle meats up this week as mid-March arrives. This morning the choice cutout printed up $1.24/cwt at $286.10/cwt. Packers are black thanks to the record high cutout levels despite that fed cattle prices reached a new high last week at $165.40.
End users are dealing with a significant reduction in beef production which is keeping prices at a record high level. Consumer beef demand may have slowed but clearly there is less beef to consume.
