February retail meat prices were released on Tuesday, from USDA Economic Research Service (ERS). The all-fresh retail beef price climbed 0.4% from last month to $7.23 per pound but fell 0.7% from last year. Choice retail beef prices also rose from last month by 0.2% to $7.59 per pound but were down 0.4% from a year earlier.
- Ground beef was $4.78 per pound in February, a slight decline from a month ago by 0.3% but compared to a year ago was up 3.2%.
- Roasts increased 0.8% from the prior month to $6.82 per pound but decreased 1.2% from last year.
- Steaks remain above $10 per pound with February at $10.30, down 0.3% from last month and down 2.8% from a year ago.
