Producers who participate in our alliance by using IWF genetics will take part in a leading quality-controlled, source-verified beef production venture. Beef produced through this alliance will be distributed to retailers and restaurateurs through IWF Foods, Inc., a consumer- focused enterprise that provides producers with a direct link to the market and consumers with quality-controlled products.

For nearly a century, Iceway Farms has been synonymous with one thing: Shorthorn cattle.  And the operation’s commitment to the breed continues into the future.  The reason?  Because in today’s race for better carcasses, Shorthorns are often the most under-utilized and over looked British breed. But Shorthorns have much to offer when it comes to producing a superior product.

At the heart of the IWF Beef Partnership is the Capitalizer, a unique, one-of-a-kind composite developed specifically to fulfill its namesake: to put dollars in the pockets of people who own them.

Capitalizers are comprised by taking the best traits of three separate breeds — Shorthorn, Tarentaise and Gelbvieh — and by targeting highly maternal and superior carcass genetics.  Gelbviehs contribute excellent performance, milk and maternal characteristics while adding saleable muscle to the Capitalizers’ carcasses.

By using IWF Capitalizers, producers will maintain optimum levels of heterosis (which improves health, production and reproduction) while producing beef products for IWF Foods, Inc., that are more consistent, more tender, and higher in quality than commodity beef.
